Bentonville Farmers Market to host previous Art Walk artists

BENTONVILLE - In addition to the events related to Reconstructing Art Walk staged at Crystal Bridges at the Massey, the Bentonville Farmers Market will host some previous Art Walk artists. The work will be for sale and artists will be on hand from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

Also Saturday, Flat Rock Clay Supplies of Fayetteville will have a hands-on clay table - Playing With Clay. There will be multiple pottery wheels, along with pottery-making demonstrations by well-known clay artists.

The Boston Mountain Potters Association will be at the Farmers Market in support of the Northwest Arkansas Food Bank's efforts to feed the hungry in our community. They will be at the Farmers Market from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Those attending can paint a soup bowl that will be auctioned off at the Nov. 11 Empty Bowls soup dinner at George's Majestic Lounge in Fayetteville.

From 10 a.m. to 11: 30 a. m., authentic American old-time and bluegrass music will be performed by Paul McGowan, Skye McGowan and Pete Howard. Paul was a member of the Seattle-based The Tallboys for several years and performed at venues such as the Northwest String Summit, Seattle's Folklife Festival and the San Francisco Old Time and Bluegrass Festival. Skye performed with The Old 78 s, Squirrel Butter and The Tallboys. Her flat-foot clogging is included on the reissued Clarke Buehling album "Out of his Gourd. "Pete's dance fiddle, banjo and bowed bass has been heard with The Skirtlifters, Allison Williams of The Forge Mountain Diggers, and Kim and Lim Lansford.

Downtown Bentonville Inc. is coordinating the activities at the Bentonville Farmers Market. Artists and activities will be featured again on June 21 and July 26. For more information, call Downtown Bentonville Inc. at (479 ) 254-0254.
