Founders were politicians, too
There's been a lot of disagreement on the opinion page lately over whether our Founding Fathers were Christians or deists. These letters have been above my head, but I do know what I found in the encyclopedia at the Rogers Public Library a few years back.
George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, John Quincy Adams - they were all deists. I could not find the beliefs of the men that were not presidents.
Am I going to believe the encyclopedia or these people that are trying to outwit one another ?
Could our Founding Fathers be like the politicians of today - talking out both sides of their mouths ?
I don't trust the religious fanatics who do their best to outwit you. I see them as wolves in sheep's clothing - and they are the ones who can get a cult started.
