EDITORIALS : For Linda Bisbee
Posted on Wednesday, May 14, 2008
Some might think name recognition is the best thing Linda Bisbee has going for her in the race for Arkansas House District 95. Granted, being married to former state Sen. David Bisbee doesn't hurt.
But Bisbee brings a lot more to the table than just her name. Over the course of her husband's career, she's had a front-row seat from which to observe the lawmaking process.
That's given her a wellrounded knowledge of how that process works - and, more importantly, an appreciation of the special challenges that go with representing northwest Arkansas' interests in the Legislature.
Bisbee doesn't come to voters as a fully formed legislator, but she shouldn't. She's seeking her first term. But she does bring things to the table most first-termers can't - key among them an understanding that getting things done in Little Rock is largely about building relationships.
She can do that, and more. Meanwhile, we have less confidence in her challenger, Duncan Baird. It's clear to us that Bisbee is the right choice in this race.
