Two years ago, then-incumbent JP Tom Allen was our choice for justice of the peace, District 4. We were very impressed with his opponent, Debra Hobbs, but felt that losing Allen’s experience would be too great a blow to a Quorum Court set to welcome several new JPs.
Allen lost, Hobbs served well, and now Hobbs is off to represent District 96 in the state House of Representatives.
Allen’s meticulous, reasonable approach to addressing the issues facing Benton County is as needed now as it was in 2006. Again, voters will be electing several new JPs, at a time when the county faces a number of daunting problems.
This time, Allen is vying to be one of those new JPs — but his past experience makes him anything but green. The county could use him moving forward.
