Do you have any nicknames ? Everyone calls me ‘ Smeltz’. What’s the one thing you can’t live without ? Probably my Memaw. She’s always been there for me and she keeps me in line. She’s just great. Favorite athlete is ? LeBron James. He can do everything. Favorite sports team ? LSU What was your reaction when you heard Les Miles kicked Ryan Perrilloux off the team ? I thought it was the right thing to do, actually. I think it taught it him a lesson. If you can’t follow rules then you can’t play sports. Word association: Nick Saban ? Greatest coach in college football. BCS national championship trophy this year goes to ? Texas Tech. What television show do you never miss ? “ Two and a Half Men. ” Word is you can bowl a 200 game right-handed and left-handed. True ? Yeah … pretty close to it left-handed. Take a lot of practice or you’re just a natural bowler ? One summer a couple of buddies of mine, we’d go every Sunday after church and get a lane for a couple hours or so. We did that for about two months and got pretty good. What’s on your Christmas wish list this year ? I want a plasma screen TV, flat screen. For my bedroom. Do you have any pre-game rituals / superstitions ? Not usually. I will sometimes wear the same pair of spandex if we win until we lose. Of course I wash them. What’s your worst habit ? Probably procrastination with studying. I do it but I always wait really late. But I always get it done. Don’t always feel good in the morning but I do get it done. Give me your three favorite movies ? I love “ Blue Streak, ” if you’ve ever seen that. I like “ Glory Road” and “ Remember the Titans. ” First thing you buy when you win the lottery is what ? Probably something for my grandma … Memaw. What’s your cell phone ring right now ? Just on vibrate all the time. What type of music takes up most of your iPod / music player ? Country, definitely. When you were younger, what were you always getting in trouble for ? Being out too late. I always had neighborhood friends and we’d stay out playing sports … football, basketball soccer. We did everything we just stayed out way too late. The Mounties are on a road trip to Rolla, Mo., and the bus stops at a gas station. What do you buy ? An Icee if they have one. If they have an Icee machine that’s what I’m gonna buy. Coke and cherry mixed … coke on the bottom and cherry on top. Never the other way around. What’s the last CD you bought ? George Straight CD. If you could trade places with coach Marty Barnes for a day, what would you do ? I would make them run offenses the whole practice. Five-on-zero. That’s what we do. Who’s the biggest ladies’ man on the team ? Probably either myself (Coach Barnes laughs from the adjoining locker room ) … don’t wanna lie here … or Ty Nafziger, our manager. He’s got a lot of ladies and they’re good looking, too. What song do you love to listen to but are embarrassed to admit it ?“ Big Girls Don’t Cry”. We’ve actually got a video of Aaron Hawley singing that song and it is disturbing. If they make the Hunter Smeltzer story into a movie 20 years from now, which actor would you like to see play you ? That’s a good one … um … Jackie Chan. What is your favorite class or teacher at Rogers and why ? Definitely going to be Ms. Suski in AP statistics. She’s hard on us but she makes us better people also. If you could have dinner with three people, dead or alive, who are they and why ? Nick Saban, probably Les Miles and Matt Mauck. They’re great. All they do is win.
