Military park to host Saturday event
Posted on Tuesday, September 30, 2008
The Pea Ridge National Military Park will be the site of a fall Civil War Preservation Trust workday on Saturday.
The event will take place at the Clemons House site, and will involve removing all traces of the 20 th century from the area and rebuilding the foundation of the historic Clemons House. The Clemons House was the scene of fighting between the Missouri State Guard and troops from Iowa, Illinois and Indiana on March 7, 1862.
The event will be from 9 a. m. to 3 p. m., and those who participate will get a Civil War Preservation Trust T-shirt and lunch provided by Subway of Pea Ridge and the Pea Ridge National Military Park Foundation.
Because of the confined area around the house site, the event is limited to 50 people on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information or to register, call 451-8122 or e-mail the park’s Web site at www. nps. gov / peri.
The park is 10 miles north of Rogers on U. S. Highway 62.
