BELLA VISTA - When the Bella Vista City Council meets tonight, a number of ordinance issues are waiting on the agenda.

Chief among them is the second reading of a proposed ordinance that would regulate nuisance properties.

If passed, the law would not only identify what constitutes such properties, it also would provide the city an avenue for condemnation and removal where necessary. In addition, the city could put a lien on the land or home and recoup expenses in the form of fines.

The third and final reading of the city's sign ordinance is expected. Assuming no changes are needed, the council should vote on its passage.

Other items slated First reading of an ordinance regulating false-alarm reports A resolution authorizing the mayor to enter into a contract for street marking on approximately 40 miles of city streets. It is not to exceed $ 5, 500 A resolution authorizing the mayor to enter into a contract for surveying and engineering services in preparation for repairs for Gosforth and Scallaway drives. Those services are not to exceed $ 7, 500 A resolution establishing a fixed-asset listing for accounting purposes for the city.

The meeting begins at 6: 30 p.m. at the Bella Vista Community Television Channel 16 Station in the lower level of Highlands Crossing.
