War Cats tryouts

The Arkansas War Cats minor league football team of the World Football League will host its first tryout Saturday, Jan. 17, from 6:30-9 p.m. at All-Star Sports Arena in Springdale.

All players must pre-register by visiting warcatsfootball.com or calling (479) 685-1308.A $25, non-refundable fee is due at time of tryout. Cash or Money Order only.

BASEBALL

BYB annual meeting set

The annual meeting for Bentonville Youth Baseball, the newly formed successor organization to Bentonville Little League and Bentonville Babe Ruth, will be at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 29, in the training room at the Bentonville Fire Department Station No. 1.

The meeting will include a recap of 2008 and a preview of programming for 2009.The meeting is open to anyone with an interest in youth baseball in Bentonville

The station is located on the corner of Southwest A and Eighth streets.Those attending must park in the parking lot on the south side of the building.

BYB registration under way

Bentonville Youth Baseball has started player registration for the 2009 season.

Registrations are being taken online with a credit card at www.bentonvillecalrip ken.org or www.bentonvillebaberuth.org. Registrations may be downloaded from the Web site (click on the Handout button) and mailed to the address on the form.

The league is open to any child living in the Bentonville School District who is at least age 4 and not more than 18 on April 30, 2009.

In person registrations are scheduled as follows:

· Thursday, Jan. 15, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Bentonville Pizza Hut, South Walton Boulevard;

· Saturday, Jan. 17, 9 a.m. to noon, Bentonville Fire Station No. 1; and

This year the Bentonville Pizza Hut is hosting a registration and fundraiser night for Bentonville Youth Baseball. Bentonville Youth Baseball will receive a percentage of any pizza purchase (dine-in or carry-out) made between 5-8 p.m. on Jan. 15.

Pea Ridge youth sign-ups

Sign-ups for Pea Ridge youth baseball and T-ball will be held from 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, Jan. 24 and Feb. 7 at the upper elementary gymnasium.

T-ball and baseball are offered for children ages 4-12.A copy of the child's birth certificate must be provided if the child has not played in the league before.

The cost is $45 for each child, $40 for each additional player within the same family.

SOCCER

Youth Spring League registration at RAC

Registration for the 2009 Youth Spring Soccer League will be taken until Feb. 13 at the Rogers Activity Center. Children ages five (5) through sixteen (16) are eligible to participate. Children must turn 5 byApril 4 2009, to participate.All Under-6 through Under-12 players must register even if they played in the fall 2008 season.

The registration fees are as follows: Under-6 ($35), Under-7 through Under-12 ($40), Under-14 ($100), and Under-16 ($100).The Under-14 and Under-16 registration is only for players that did not play in the fall 2008 season.

Each participant must have a current RAC membership ($20).The membership is current for one (1) year from the date of purchase.

Registration for Bentonville Recreational Program

The Ingram Comets Futbol Club is taking registrations for its Bentonville Recreational Soccer Program through Feb. 21. The registration form can be found online at www.ingramcometsfc.org under "Rec Soccer."

A six-week mini program is offered for U4-U5 players with birthdates between 8/1/03 and 7/31/05. Cost is $30 for the Spring season.

Cost for the Spring season for U5-U8 players is $30 and U9-U10 is $50.

Players will be added to existing teams and new teams may also be formed. Coaches will be needed for new teams. A jersey and socks are included in all registration fees.

In-person registration will be Thursday, Feb. 5, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Old High Middle School commons area in Bentonville during the Health Fair.

Ingram FC will also hold evaluations for boys' and girls' U9 and U10 Academy teams and tryouts for U11 competitive teams on Thursday, Jan. 29, from 6-7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 1, from 3-4:30 p.m. at the Ingram complex in Centerton. Please bring a ball and wear shinguards.
