Lady Tigers, Mountaineers sweep Tiger Invitational

finished in 12: 31. Bentonville's Scott Compton was second in 12: 47 and was followed by Heritage's Tyler Heit in 12: 55 and Rogers JV's Martin Resendiz.
"I was trying to run faster to pass them," Fleeman said. "Where we went down the hill, I just barely passed them. Me and the guy from Bentonville (Compton ) just got through."
Fleeman is an underclassman who runs on the Mounties' varsity as well.
Rogers scored 33 points to finish 10 points ahead of second-place finishing Heritage. Bentonville was third with 64 points and was followed by Van Buren (129 ), Springdale (135 ), Siloam Springs (150 ), Eureka Springs (198 ) and Berryville (246. )
In the junior high divisions, Rogers took the girls' with 50 points and Springdale Central the boys' with 37 points.
Will Aenchenbacher won the boys' race for Bentonville Black. Tayler Estrada won the girls' race for Bentonville Black.
Following Rogers in the junior girls' division was Washington (59 ), Black (71, Rogers Kirksey (77 ), Berryville (146 ), Eureka Springs (175 ), Van Buren (200 ), Elmwood (201 ), and St. Vincent's (207 ).
Following Central was Rogers (59 ), Siloam Springs (93 ), Washington (118 ), Berryville (124 ), Black (150 ), Van Buren (205 ), Kerksey (227 ), Eureka Springs (234 ) and St. Vincent's (329 ).
BENTONVILLE - Katie Dalton and Jeremiah Fleeman ran away with the boys' and girls' divisions of the Bentonville Invitational Cross Country meet Saturday held behind Washington Junior High.
Dalton paced her Bentonville Lady Tigers and Fleeman the Rogers Mounties JV to divisional championships on the newly formed course.
"I really liked the course," said Dalton, who finished at 14 minutes, 15 seconds and led four Lady Tigers across the finish line.
The Lady Tigers totaled 17 points against runner-up Rogers Heritage with 42. Rogers JV was third with 81 and was followed by Springdale (126 ), Van Buren (129 ) and Berryville (140 ).
Shannon Sullivan was second in 14: 48, MacKenzie Bloom third in 14: 55 and Elenna Sanz fourth in 15: 05.
"I tried to stay up with the leader early," Dalton said. "I went off about three quarters of a mile into it."
Dalton said her team has trained hard this summer and was ready for its season-opening meet.
Fleeman said the start was the most challenging part of the course, which meandered around soccer fields to the west.
