FACILITIES Ingram Sports Center The Ingram Sports Center, located on Highway 72 in Centerton, is now available for rent. The Sports Center boasts more than 12, 000 square feet with an indoor gym equipped for soccer, basketball and volleyball. Also included are locker rooms, a concession stand, a lounge area with a kitchen, foosball table and pool table, three offices and a study area. The gym is ideal for martial arts and dance classes. Outside, there is a two-story building with a pressbox, locker rooms and a coaches ’ room where coaches can watch play on two fields. One field is equipped with lights, a state-of-the-art sound system, scoreboard and seating for 1, 000. The Center is available for games, leagues and tournaments. Office space is available for lease. The Ingram Sports Center is home of the Ingram Comets Futbol Club and the Bentonville Recreational Soccer program. Coaches are looking for players who want to play baseball at a higher level. Players and parents should have a great attitude and a love for the game. GOLF Lost Springs Four-Ball Lost Springs Golf & Athletic Club in Rogers will host its annual Four-Ball Championship on Sept. 13-14. Cost is $ 160 per team. Community Spirit Golf Tournament Delta Trust & Bank is sponsoring its second annual Community Spirit Golf Tournament at Highlands Golf Course in Bella Vista on Aug. 3. The tournament will benefit the Gravette Senior Center. The 4-person scramble has a 1: 30 p. m. shotgun start. Teams will consist of a men’s, senior men’s and mixed team flights. There will be door prizes, a hole-in-one contest, prizes per flight and a catered dinner after the tournament. Sponsorship and team registration forms may be picked up at either the Gravette or Bella Vista Delta Trust & Bank Locations or any Bella Vista Golf Course. Entry deadline is July 25. Pea Ridge Golf Classic The 15 th annual Pea Ridge Golf Classic / Four-Man Scramble, sponsored by the Pea Ridge Optimist Club, will be Aug. 9 at Big Sugar Golf Club. A shotgun start is scheduled for 8 a. m. Included in the entry fee / donation of $ 60 per person will be free range balls from 6: 30 to 8 a. m., breakfast from 7 a. m. to 8 a. m., lunch, beverages, prizes for two places in three flights, prizes for longest drive, longest putt and closest to the hole and registration goodie bags. Donations are being requested to help the Optimist Club raise money for projects in the community. For hole sponsors, a sign will be placed on a tee box to advertise the business or family. Ways to be a hole sponsor include Diamond $ 1, 000 or more, Platinum $ 200 to $ 99, Gold $ 100 to $ 199. Silver or bronze donations of merchandise, services and cash are also appreciated. Member-Guest Tournament The Bella Vista Women’s 9-Hole Golf League will hold its Summer’s End Member-Guest Tournament on Monday, Sept. 15, at the Berksdale Golf Course with an 8 a. m. shotgun start. The cost is $ 30 per player or $ 36 if a half a rental cart is needed. The fee includes green fees, continental breakfast, lunch and prizes. The format will be a four-lady scramble for nine holes. Everyone is welcome whether league members or not. The deadline to enter is Monday, Sept. 8. LACROSSE Lacrosse club practice sessions The YMCA of Northwest Arkansas Lacrosse Club is holding developmental practice sessions on Thursday nights in Bentonville. Boys practice from 5: 30-6: 45 p. m. at Old Tiger Stadium and girls practice from 6-7: 30 p. m. at Lincoln Junior High School. The sessions are designed to improve players basic stick and position skills. Interested boys and girls entering grades 5 through 12 are invited to attend at no cost or obligation. SOCCER Comets tryouts Ingram Comets Futbol Club will hold tryouts for current U 14 players and older on July 22. Tryouts will be held in Springdale at the Brunner and Lay fields located at 1438 North Old Missouri Road. Registration will begin at 5: 30 p. m. and tryouts begin at 6 p. m. Brasilian Soccer Camps The Brasilian Summer Soccer Camps will be held at Memorial Park in Bentonville July 28-Aug. 1. Last year’s camps were sold out and the same is expected again this summer according to camp director Tadeu Dias. With their unique approach in teaching the game, the Brasilian Summer Soccer Camps have become one of the best in the Midwest. Players from ages 4-18 and all skill levels are challenged daily in all aspects of the game, with emphasis on technique. From the first day and throughout the camp, all players are going to be challenged accordingly. Trained instructors have more than 20 years of experience in the game playing and coaching at all levels, from professional, college and high school. Camp instructors also have many years of professional playing experience internationally. The camp will also offer goalkeeper training for all ages and skill levels from coaches specializing in the Goalkeeper Program. The first 500 campers will receive a special edition Brasilian Soccer Camp Ball and T-Shirt. Rogers Youth Fall Soccer League Rogers Community-School Recreation Association registration for the 2008 Youth Fall Soccer League will be taken until Aug. 9 at the Rogers Activity Center. Children ages four (4 ) through seventeen (17 ) are eligible to participate. Children must turn 4 by July 31 to participate. The registration fees are as follows: Little Kicksters (4 yr. olds ) and Under 6 ($ 40 ), Under 7 through Under 12 ($ 50 ), and Under 14 through Under 18 ($ 100 ). Each participant must have a current RAC membership ($ 20. 00 ). The membership is current for one (1 ) year from the date of purchase.
TENNIS NWA Junior Tennis League The Northwest Arkansas Junior Tennis League will hold competition through Aug. 27 at the Kingsdale Tennis Center in Bella Vista. Play will be Wednesday of each week with times starting at 5 p. m. Cost is $ 15 per participant, which will include awards and prizes, tennis balls and a player / parent party on Wednesday, Aug. 27. Age divisions are 8- & -Under (short court ), 10- & -Under, 12 / 14- & -Under and 16 / 18- & -Under. Beginner, intermediate and advanced levels will be offered. Team combo doubles format consisting of men’s, ladies and mixed doubles. The cost is $ 50 per player and includes beach party tickets, T-shirt, hat, goody bag, complimentary meals and snacks.
