Siloam Springs names new cross country coach

SILOAM SPRINGS - Siloam Springs athletics director Kerwin Dees has announced the hiring of Sharon Jones as the new senior boys' and senior girls'cross country coach.

Jones replaces Kevin Meythaler, who resigned last fall.

Jones, who ran track for Arkansas State University, has coached in Bentonville, Gentry and Springdale the last eight years and is currently the track and cross country coach at Central Junior High in Springdale. The Central boys won the Northwest Arkansas Conference cross country championship last fall as well as a fourth-place finish at the Chile Pepper Festival in Fayetteville. The Central girls were runners-up at three different meets last season. Jones will also be an assistant track coach in the spring. Bill Covington will again be an assistant cross country coach with the high school and middle school programs next year.
