McKinzie perfect for Lions

GRAVETTE — Junior right-hander Ethan McKinzie threw a perfect game and the Gravette Lions easily beat Gentry 10-0 on Thursday in a five-inning 1-4 A Conference baseball game.

McKinzie struck out nine batters and retired all 15 batters he faced. He also helped himself at the plate with two RBIs and a run scored.

The Lions improved to 9-4 overall and 1-0 in conference play.

Three Gravette players went 3 for 3. Dillon Pruitt had two singles and a double and scored three runs. Travis Eden had three singles, two runs scored and a pair of RBIs.

Blake Rutherford also had two RBIs

Matt Pierce was the losing pitcher for Gentry. Lady Pioneers 12, Lady Lions 1

GRAVETTE — Courtney Jones had two hits, including a solo home run, and three RBIs for Gentry in a 12-1 five-inning win over Gravette in 1-4 A Conference softball on Thursday.

Katie Bowman also had three RBIs and was the winning pitcher for the Lady Pioneers (5-4, 1-0 ). She had six strikeouts and limited the Lady Lions to three hits.

Also for Gentry, Ayla Smartt scored three runs and hit a double, Megan Meigs and Kelsey Duncan each had two hits, and Whitney Corter had two RBIs and a double.

Stormy Clary was the losing pitcher for Gravette. Indiana Golf Club

The Indiana Golf Club will have its first day of play on Sunday, April 27, at the Scottsdale Golf Course. Tee times start at 1: 22 p. m. Couples and singles are invited to play.
