BASEBALL Duck Soup Tournament The Pea Ridge Youth Baseball League will host the first annual Duck Soup Tournament on October 20-21. Entry fee is $ 150 per team. BASKETBALL Upward Basketball registration Upward Basketball registration is now open for boys and girls in kindergarten through seventh grade. GOLF Elks Lodge Tournament The Rogers-Bentonville Elks Lodge No. 2144 annual Charity Golf Tournament will be held Saturday, Oct. 6, at The Creeks in Cave Springs. Entry fee is $ 55 per person for the four-person scramble event. Shotgun start is 8 a. m. with a hamburger lunch at the lodge afterwards. Prizes awarded on designated holes. Tee times for the 18-hole event will begin at 9 a. m. Field will be flighted for first, second and third after completion of the round. Entry fee is $ 75 per person ($ 300 per team ) and the field is limited to 36 teams. Prizes for closest to pin, long drive and gift certificates will be awarded. Lunch is also included. Bella Vista Ladies Nine-hole luncheon The Bella Vista Nine-Hole Women golfers will end the 2007 season with an awards brunch Monday, Oct. 22, at the Metfield Clubhouse. Registration begins at 9 a. m. with brunch served at 9: 30 a. m. Pre-paid reservations are required and the deadline is Wednesday, Oct. 17. The $ 10 fee may be mailed to social committee co-chair Judy Owens, 14 Harrington Lane, Bella Vista, 72714, or may be paid on Monday play days prior to the deadline. The slate of offices includes ZaDean Auyer, President; Phyllis Munster, Vice-president; Elaine Patten, Secretary; and Pam Reed, Treasurer. Dues for the 2008 season will be collected from ladies who wish to join early in order to participate in the hole-in-one competition over the winter. The Nine-Hole ladies play each Monday morning from April through October, alternating between the two Kingsdale complex courses, Berksdale and Kingswood. Ladies of all skill levels are welcome. Anyone who may be interested in playing next season is invited to attend the brunch to learn more about the organization and meet other golfers. Members must be Bella Vista property owners and have a POA Activity card. Women’s 5-hole luncheon The Bella Vista Women’s 5-hole Golf Association is closing its 2007 season with a luncheon on Oct. 29 at The Metfield Clubhouse. Registration will begin at 10 a. m. with the lunch and business meeting at 11 a. m. The cost of the lunch is $ 12. Women’s 18-Hole Fall Luncheon The Bella Vista Women 18-Hole Golf Club will hold its end of the season Fall Luncheon on Thursday, Oct. 25. The luncheon will be at the Bella Vista Country Club Restaurant at 11 a. m. The cost for the luncheon is $ 11. The reservation deadline is Oct. 19. MARTIAL ARTS Classes forming Martial arts classes now enrolling in Bentonville. Classes are now forming for four age groups. The Lil ’ Dragons karate program for 3- & 4-year-olds focuses on motor skills, self-control, balance, and memory. The Kinder karate program for 5- & 6-year-olds develops self defense, balance, coordination, attention span, and motor skills. The Youth karate program for 7- to 13-year-olds also develops discipline, responsibility, and better grades in school. The Adult karate program also is a source of fitness and stress relief. RUGBY Blues Rugby Club High school boys wishing to learn rugby football and play for the Blues Under-19 Rugby Club should contact Lt. Col. Zan Martin (Retired ) at (479 ) 636-1970. Blues ’ fall practices are Tuesdays and Thursdays after school during September and October. Fall practice culminates with an annual scrimmage against the JBU Rugby Club in November.
