The Miss Dogwood and Miss Heart of the Ozarks Scholarship Pageant is now accepting entries from contestants. The pageant will be held at 6 p.m. Feb. 7 at the Arend Arts Center at Bentonville High School.
Both Miss Dogwood and Miss Heart of the Ozarks will be crowned that evening, along with a Miss Dogwood Outstanding Teen and a Miss Heart of the Ozarks Outstanding Teen. The pageant is an official preliminary to the Miss Arkansas and Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen pageants. The winners will go on to compete in the state pageants this summer. Two princesses will also be crowned. The newly crowned princesses will have the opportunity to travel with the miss and teen queens to the state pageants as state princesses.
There are four divisions: little miss (5-8), princess (9-12), outstanding teen (13-17 year-old high school junior), miss (17 year-old-high school senior-24 years).
The scholarship pageant is open to women who live in Benton, Washington, Madison, Carroll, Boone, Crawford, Marion and Baxter counties. Students attending the University of Arkansas must have completed a minimum of 12 hours by Feb. 7 to be eligible. The deadline to enter is Jan. 31, but late entries may be accepted.

The Miss Dogwood and Miss Heart of the Ozarks competition exists to provide personal and professional opportunities for young American women and to promote their voice in culture, politics and the community. Contestants will compete in private interview, lifestyle, fitness-wear (miss in swimsuit, teen in active wear), artistic expression and evening-wear categories, as well as answer on-stage questions.
The organization is based on volunteers who work to provide scholarships and gifts for deserving young women who compete in the Miss America System. The pageants are official Miss Arkansas and Miss America preliminaries. Since its beginning, the Miss Dogwood and Miss Heart of the Ozarks pageant has held a prestigious reputation for preparing young women for the Miss Arkansas stage, having had numerous top-10 finalists and award recipients.
Rich in history and social significance, the Miss America Organization is a notfor-profit corporation that has maintained a tradition for decades of empowering American women. Each year, the Miss America organization attracts more than 80,000 contestants for competitions and fosters a large network of more than 300,000 volunteers.
