BENTONVILLE — Tiger fans are getting ready to raise the decibel level at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock on Saturday, when Bentonville takes on Fort Smith Southside in the Class 7 A State Championship football game. But fans will be getting their tune-up for the big event here Thursday night.

At 5 p. m. Thursday, the pre-championship game party will officially begin. Anyone who considers himself a Tiger football fan — young and old, male and female — is invited to gather behind the BHS South Building from 5 p. m. to 6: 30 p. m. for what’s being described as the “ Burning Up the Road to Little Rock” festivities.

Fans will start arriving at 5 p. m. By 5: 15 p. m., the Tiger football team and coaches will be spilling off a couple of buses and walking through what is anticipated to be an ocean of supporters. Players will be wearing white shirts, and fans are encouraged to bring Sharpie markers and write messages to the players as they pass by. Meanwhile, The Jungle, Bentonville’s student cheering section, will lead fans in its famous “ Stomp” chant. There will be a pep rally, a bonfire, the BHS Marching Band and a car bash — where coaches, players and eventually fans

will have an opportunity

to hammer away at a helpless car. The event figures to be crowded, loud and festive — all necessary ingredients to what BHS teacher Jason Jemanski said is necessary to send the football team off right. “ We want tons of people to come out — everyone, ” said Jemanski, who also helped organize the BHS student cheering section, The Jungle, that’s been making its own share of noise at Tiger games all year. “ Everyone bring a Sharpie. Everyone come fired up. This is going to be a special weekend, and we’re hoping to add to it with this celebration and showing of support. ” Tickets

Tiger fans don’t have to wait until Thursday to get their game faces on, however. Today, Tiger fans and students will have their first opportunity to lay claim to tickets to the state championship game, scheduled to kick off at noon Saturday. According to information provided by BHS Athletic Director Lauren West, advance tickets will be sold to the general public from 7: 30 a. m. to 3 p. m. today and Thursday at the Tiger Athletic Complex. Advance tickets for BHS students will be sold during lunch periods today and Thursday.
