Tigers' next stop: Little Rock Bentonville topped Russellville in semifinal game

BENTONVILLE — Pack your bags, Tiger fans. The Bentonville football team is going to Little Rock.

Bentonville (11-1 ) whipped Russellville (9-3 ) 27-0 in front of more than 6, 000 fans in a Class 7 A playoff semifinal game at Tiger Stadium on Friday night to advance to the state championship game. The 7 A championship game will be played at noon next Saturday at War Memorial Stadium

in Little Rock. Bentonville will play Forth Smith Southside, who beat

Springdale Har-ber 8-7 in the other 7 A semifinal game. Bentonville beat Southside,

14-7, earlier this year at Tiger Stadium. Bentonville bolted to a 14-0 lead at halftime on the strength of touchdown runs by Pearson Gean and Shane Boedeker.

The Bentonville defense held the Russellville offense to 100 yards in total offense.

Bentonville last played in Little Rock in 2001, when the Tigers finished 12-1 and won the state title over El Dorado.

Southside won a state title in 2006 with a win over Rogers.
