BENTONVILLE — A Gravette man has been sentenced to 151 months in federal prison for receiving child pornography by computer, according to a press release from the office of U. S. Attorney Bob Balfe.
Randy Forrest, 49, was given the sentence Wednesday in U. S. District Court in Fayetteville by Federal Judge Jimm Larry Hendren.
According to a plea agreement filed in the case, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE ) agents in Fayetteville received a lead from an ICE Office in Seattle, Wash., identifying a suspect who downloaded pornographic images of minors. The investigation revealed that the IP address belonged to Forrest.
A federal search warrant for Forrest’s residence was obtained and during the search of the residence officers seized computers, external hard drives, other computer hardware and several compact disks, according to the press release.
Forrest was interviewed and told agents that he had been receiving and sharing images of child pornography over the Internet for approximately four years, the press release states. All computer-related items were forensically examined by Adam Holland, a detective with the Fort Smith Police Department, and the forensic analysis revealed more than 1, 700 still images and 200 video files of child pornography, according to the press release.
Hendren ordered Forrest to pay a $ 5, 000 fine and serve a term of supervised release for the remainder of his life after his release from prison.
The case was investigated by ICE agents and Fort Smith detectives, along with assistance from the Benton County Sheriff’s Office and the Rogers and Gravette Police Departments.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant U. S. Attorney Candace Taylor.
