If you notice, there was the usual number of responses to vehicle accidents with injury this past week. Several factors may come into play to make these accidents hit the list week after week.
With a rainy spell during the reporting period roadways were more slick than during summer time driving conditions. Even though there is no ice and snow on the roadways yet, a damp road offers less traction for tires and gives us less control of our vehicles to stop or make turns. When the roadway is wet, we must allow more distance between vehicles and allow more time to stop.
Seat belts are always a safety issue to highlight. Wearing a seat belt is one of the best ways available to avoid injuries in a vehicle accident. By taking that second to click on your seat belt you will be much less likely to be ejected from a rollover vehicle accident or won’t be flying around the interior of your vehicle during a crash.
Safe driving habits are a final way to avoid injury accident. We have all heard of defensive driving, but not being an offensive driver has become much more of a problem in our fast- paced society. Follow the safe driving rules of the road may keep all of us moving along our way. Being a jerk behind the wheel is a sure bet for an accident, possibly one with injury.
