SILOAM SPRINGS — Candidate Mike Kenney had requested a recount in the Siloam Springs mayoral race, and that recount is set for Monday, Kenney confirmed Friday.

The Election Commission will meet at 2 p. m. Monday at the county Election Commission Office, at 105 S. E. Executive Drive, Suite 1, in Bentonville, Election Commissioner Lynn Chinn confirmed Friday.

As of now, candidate David Allen leads Kenney by 10 votes — 2, 000 to 1, 990 — both candidates confirmed Friday.

Kenney requested the recount the day after the election, well within the time limit for the request, and will be present at Monday’s meeting, he said.

“ I had to send a letter (requesting the recount ) within 48 hours of the election. … The person that asks for the recount, it’s up to them as far as … what precincts they count, and what I would like to do is get over there at 2 o’clock and kind of see what the votes look like in the precincts, and what the totals were, (and ) how they came in. And then we’ll go from there. … They’ll have everything pulled from Siloam Springs — from what I understand — that would have been affected by this race, ” he said.

Allen also plans to be present Monday, he said. “ Whenever there’s a recount, I’ll be there, ” Allen said.
