BENTONVILLE — Even an iffy economy hasn’t hurt ticket sales to the 10 th annual Northwest Arkansas Business Women’s Conference on Sept. 30, hosted by the Bentonville-Bella Vista Chamber of Commerce.
Krista Khone, vice president of special events and leadership for the Chamber, said the conference is a sellout. “ We really didn’t know what to expect this year because of the concerns about the economy, ” Khone said, “ but it didn’t seem to have an effect at all. We’re looking forward to a great conference with wonderful speakers. This is the 10 th year for the conference, and it’s the first year we’ve completely sold out. ” Gladys Knight, singer, actress and author, is the keynote speaker. The morning motivational speaker is Emory Austin, who is making a return appearance at the conference. Attendees will be treated to several other stimulating speakers addressing topics from heart health to personal image.
The Athena Award will be presented to a woman selected for achieving the highest levels of professional excellence. The Athena presentation will take place during the lunch break.
When the Northwest Arkansas Business Women’s Conference began a decade ago, it attracted approximately 50 women. The sellout for this year’s conference represents 1, 100 conference attendees.
