BENTONVILLE - Any student in the community who wants to learn more about applying for the U. S. Military Academy at West Point will get the chance Sept. 30 at Bentonville High School.

The admissions-information meeting will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the north building lecture hall at BHS, 1801 S. E. J St.

"The purpose is to provide them with correct information about the USMA at West Point and what it takes to gain admission to the school. We will also tell them what kind of degrees are offered, what it is like to attend there and what to expect after they graduate," said Capt. Vic England, who is also a teacher at BHS.

"The advantage for a student to attend this is (to gain ) information on the somewhat complicated admissions process as compared to a regular state-run college or university. Since there are more than 40, 000 trying to gain admission to the USMA and only 1, 100 are admitted, the process is highly competitive to get in, as well," England said.

To participate, students are asked to RSVP to Gladys Grady at gladys. grady @ usma. edu and put "Bentonville AIM"in the subject line of the e-mail.
