Police name victim in bicycle fatality

BENTONVILLE — Police have named the Springdale man, Jesson Weldon Essary, 19, who was killed when his bicycle collided with a semitrailer Sunday afternoon.
At 1: 19 p. m. Sunday, officers from the Bentonville Police Department and medical personnel from the Bentonville Fire Department responded to the 500 block of Southeast E Street after a 911 call alerted them to a motor-vehicle accident, according to a news release from the Bentonville Police Department.
Upon emergency personnel’s arrival, it was determined that Essary had been killed after his bicycle collided with the semitrailer.
The victim’s identity was withheld until his family could be contacted.
With the assistance of the Arkansas Highway Police, the investigation is ongoing.
