BENTONVILLE — The Square may be under construction for a bit longer if the Bentonville City Council approves to add 19 contract days to the second phase of the Downtown Square Enhancement Project.
The 19 additional days are a combination of several requests by Mobley Contractors for additional contract days, as well as an additional line item for adjusting manhole rims and for the placement of additional underground units.
Included in the requests are additional days for:
• Construction of footings for the Bentonville City Hall; funding of which will come from the City Hall facade project;
• A new fire service line, resulting from the city council’s approval of new sprinkler codes;
• Adjustment of manhole rings, resulting from having to modify the plan curb grades on the project to allow for proper drainage and to meet Americans with Disabilities Act requirements, resulting in grade changes in the roadway;
• Additional conduits, resulting from trying to move all overhead lines along Central Avenue between Southwest A Street and Southeast B Street.
The meeting will be held at 6 p. m. Tuesday at the Community Development Building, 305 S. W. A St.
The council will also approve the following items:
• A rezoning request from Agricultural (A-1 ) to Single-Family Residential (R-1 ) for 8828 W. McNelly Road, requested by Larry Vandevoir.
• A rezoning request from Central Commercial (C-2 ) to General Commercial (C-3 ) for 407 S. W. A St., requested by Johnny Haney;
• A voluntary amendment to the General Plan;
• A resolution setting a public hearing for Leonard Boen for a utility easement at 500 S. E. Walton Blvd.
