Chief deputy prosecutor resigns

BENTONVILLE - Benton County Prosecutor Van Stone is searching for a new second in command of the office.
Shane Wilkinson resigned his chief deputy position Monday.
Wilkinson began in 2002 as a deputy prosecutor in the felony division. He was then assigned to prosecute child sexual-abuse cases before rising through the ranks as a division chief, senior trial attorney and, finally, chief deputy.
"He did some great things for this office and our community, and I wish him well, " Stone said.
Stone did not say whether Wilkinson's replacement will come from within or outside the Prosecutor's Office.
Deputy Prosecutor Drew Ledbetter is the senior trial attorney, which is the thirdranking position in the office. Deputy Prosecutors A. J. Anglin and Stephanie McLemore are the division chiefs.
The Prosecutor's Office is also without a misdemeanors deputy prosecutor.
Stone believes the office will continue to run smoothly.
"We have very capable prosecutors in this office, and the work goes on," Stone said.
