ROGERS - Thurman Metcalf of Rogers continued to focus on some health-care related activities in the convention hall at the Pepsi Center in Denver as the Democratic National Convention marked its second day Tuesday.

Michelle Obama's remarks Monday focused on the personal, as well as health care and other national political issues, but hit the mark with Metcalf and other convention delegates, he said. She followed that address Tuesday with remarks on health care to him and some other Democratic activists, Metcalf said.

"Michelle O'Bama gave a perfect speech (Monday )," he said. "Michelle Obama was speaking to us (Tuesday ). "

The Democratic Party has now put in its platform endorsements of affordable health care for all Americans and of expanding coverage of the mentally ill, two things for which he's been working as a health-care advocate, Metcalf said. The Rogers businessman has been a caregiver for both of his parents.

He's looking forward to hearing addresses by U. S. Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N. Y., and later by Bill Clinton, Metcalf said.

Metcalf was elected as a delegate for then-presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. Clinton's decision to release her delegates from their pledges of support will allow him to vote for Obama, Metcalf said.

Both Clinton and Obama offered superior health-care plans, and he is glad to support Obama, Metcalf said.
