Sales-tax revenue for county reported

BENTONVILLE Benton County collected $ 796, 901 in sales-tax revenue for June, a 3. 53 percent increase over June 2007, announced Richard McComas, the county comptroller.
Although the countys sales-tax revenue figures for January through June are down 2. 46 percent when compared to the collections for the same period last year, McComas expects the county to meets its projections of $ 8. 7 million in salestax revenue by the end of the year.
June saw the first decrease in sales-tax revenue for the county. January saw a 9 percent increase, February a 13 percent increase, March an 8 percent increase, April an 8. 5 percent increase and May a 9 percent increase.
If we continue at the same pace with the increases, we will hit that projection and probably exceed the projection, the same as we did last year, McComas said.
Last year, the county collected $ 8, 790, 000 in sales-tax revenue.
We are on track to go above our projection ($ 8. 7 million ) this year, McComas said. I will be surprised if we do not collect what we did last year.
