Routt must serve 21 days in jail

BENTONVILLE - A Bentonville man featured Monday in a front-page Benton County Daily Record story must serve 21 days in the Benton County Jail for domestic abuse.
Buddy Routt, 43, was featured in an article titled "Counting his blessings: Whatever happened to Buddy Routt ? "The article concerned Routt's life after an almost-fatal accident in July 2000 when he was working in the Hanover subdivision and came into contact with a live primary line carrying some 7, 200 volts of electricity.
Routt was arrested March 16, 2007, and was later charged with domestic battery in the second degree. Routt was accused of striking his wife.
On July 30, Circuit Judge David Clinger found Routt guilty of domestic battery in the third degree and sentenced him to 21 days in jail.
Routt reported to jail Monday and began serving his sentence. He will be allowed work release. Routt must perform 40 hours of community service and pay $ 720 in courtassociated costs.
