BENTONVILLE — With the 2008 election less than four months away, Molly Donlin and other Republican campaign officials are well along in many election preparation activities, and have others planned, said Donlin, director of Arkansas ’ GOP Victory ’ 08 campaign.

Donlin was the main speaker Tuesday at the monthly meeting of the Benton County Republican Committee.

Originally from Ohio, she is a veteran of many GOP campaigns and moved to Arkansas in May to work on behalf of the state Republican Party in this year’s election, Donlin said.

She and other GOP operatives will work on get-outthe-vote and other efforts on behalf of GOP candidates. As part of the effort, there is a GOP office in Springdale and other such offices in Conway and Greenwood in Arkansas, and one will soon be opening in Searcy, Donlin said.

But she and other GOP officials will also be glad to be advised of any other assistance they can offer to county, state legislative or other Republican candidates in the state and northwest region, Donlin said.

Technology allows the party to target likely voters with some precision, and that can benefit the GOP presidential campaign, as well as other Republican campaigns. But it’s still volunteers reaching out to those voters that wins elections, and volunteers from Benton County will be needed, and welcome, she said.

“ We need to reach out and contact as many Republicans as possible and make sure they turn out, not only for John McCain but for local candidates as well, ” she said.

Voter registration is another major effort the GOP will continue to work on, Donlin said.

In other business, the committee planned to attend the state party convention, which will be July 26 in Little Rock.

Three Benton County residents — Reta Hamilton, Duane Neal and Jonathan Barnett — will attend another event, the GOP National Convention. It will be Sept. 1-4 in Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minn., said George Spence, county GOP chairman.
