PEA RIDGE — Investigations began Wednesday on what caused a small plane to crash-land in a field on Miser Road in Pea Ridge on Wednesday afternoon.

At approximately 12: 15 p. m., a Mooney aircraft, registered in another state and flown by Hope Elizabeth Gerlits, was en route to the Rogers Municipal Airport to be received for purchase by Bodie Bell of Rogers.

“ The plane was being delivered from San Antonio (Texas ) and was brokered through a third party, ” Benton County Emergency Management Director Marshall Watson said.

The reason for the crash was still undetermined, and representatives from the Federal Aviation Administration will investigate the crash.

Gerlits was taken to Mercy Medical Center in Rogers.
