Bella Vista Republican Women to hear guest speaker

BELLA VISTA — Arbor Buchanan, an advocate supervisor for Court-Appointed Special Advocates of Northwest Arkansas, will be the guest speaker at the next meeting of the Bella Vista Republican Women, said Deanna Ratcliffe, the club’s president.
The meeting will begin at 9: 30 a. m. Monday at Concordia in Bella Vista, and coffee will be served at 9 a. m. before the meeting, Ratcliffe said.
According to the CASA of Northwest Arkansas Web site, in four northwest Arkansas counties, including Benton County, court-appointed special advocates for CASA of Northwest Arkansas are at work on behalf of children who have previously been abused and neglected. Trained, independent volunteers appointed by a juvenile court judge, they learn about and serve as advocates for children who have been removed from their homes because of abuse or neglect, the Web site states.
Buchanan will tell the GOP club that the CASA of Northwest Arkansas organization could benefit from having more volunteers and would also welcome other kinds of assistance, she said Friday.
