GENTRY — A water-service contract to supply drinking water in Delaware County, Okla., was approved by the Gentry City Council on June 2.
The contract with the Oklahoma Petroleum Storage Tank Division allows Gentry to provide water to a limited number of Oklahoma residents in the Tonnece / Sandusky community whose groundwater was contaminated.
The waterlines will be built at no cost to Gentry, and the city will reap the benefits of additional water customers. The system will serve an estimated 53 customers who will be supplied water with a 4-inch line. A meter at the state line will be included in the system in the event future development makes it possible for an Oklahoma entity to operate a water system and purchase water from Gentry.
The system should have no impact on water available to Gentry customers, Gentry water supervisor David Mc-Nair said.
