BENTONVILLE - The 9 Foundation will hold the Texas Hold 'Em No Limit Tournament on June 7 at the Clarion Hotel and Convention Center in Bentonville. Proceeds from the tournament will go to the foundation's efforts of helping underprivileged children in Benton County pay for playing baseball and softball.
The foundation was started by Teresa Johnston in memory of her husband, Andy Johnston, a 10-year Wal-Mart employee who died suddenly at work on Jan. 13, 2006, when a blood vessel in his brain burst. She wanted to keep alive Andy's love for baseball and his dream to see every child have the opportunity to play ball.
The Clarion tournament, to be directed by the NWA Poker Circuit, will begin at 3 p. m., with walk-in registration beginning an hour earlier.
The $ 80 cost per player is tax deductible. Players will be provided with a $ 6, 000 starting chip stack and 20-minute blinds.
The grand prize is a trip for two to Las Vegas with $ 1, 000 in expenses paid. More information about the 9 Foundation is available at 9 foundation. com.
