BELLA VISTA — The Property Owners Association Board unanimously passed a resolution Thursday night that says the board needs to complete the transfer of amenities to the city and analyze the financial situation after the transfer, in order to place the POA’s finances on a sold base and to improve the condition of the association’s existing amenities.

Without giving a timeline, board members also resolved to complete the amenity visioning and planning process.

But residents at the meeting had other problems on their minds.

During the open forum and to a packed house, about five property owners spoke about the proposed alternative road to replace Oneil Drive as the access to Gordon Hollow Road and then to U. S. Highway 71 at the shopping area in Jane, Mo.

About half of the members suggested that the alternative road be moved farther to the east because it could encroach on common property and would be almost in the backyards of four homes on Oneil Circle.

The other half spoke in favor of the alternative route because it would be safer for the people living on Oneil Drive. Jack Kellogg said the new route would give commercial traffic a way to access the western part of Bella Vista without having to use either Arkansas highways 279 or 340.

As to whether the association should help pay for the road, Kellogg said, “ It’s still your baby. You’re still in a critical place when it comes to the decision. ”

The board members voted to give the city up to $ 200, 000 to created a new access from Gordon Hollow Road to Scotsdale Drive, removing the traffic from Oneil Drive.

The board’s next meeting will be May 15 at the Country Club.
