Event planned for poultry producers

BENTON COUNTY - Poultry producers interested in the latest energy and fuel conservation / saving products and programs will be able to view gadgets, talk to vendors and hear professional programs at the Ozark Poultry Growers Symposium on April 3.

The event will be held at the Pauline Whitaker Animal Science Center in Fayetteville. Producers will be able to see products such as insulation foam, light bulbs, biomass stoves and electric trucks. There is no admission fee.

The trade-show floor will open at 2: 30 p.m. At 5: 30 p. m., Joshua Payne will talk about using litter amendments to reduce ammonia levels and fuel costs. At 6: 15 p. m., there will be a program on energy conservation for poultry houses by Yi Liang from the University of Arkansas. At 7 p. m., there will be a poultry-farm energyaudit program by Richard Drewery of the U. S. Department of Agriculture. At 7: 30 p. m., G. Tom Tabler of the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service will talk about saving money on poultry farms. The program will conclude at 8: 30 p.m.

Oklahoma poultry growers will be able to receive their required three-hour annual education credits by signing in and attending the programs.

A meal will be served from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The meal will be free, but growers are asked to call Donna Tinsley at the Center of Excellence Poultry Science at 575-3250 for lunch reservations. Producers are asked to respond before Tuesday if possible.
