POA committee selling roses, hydrangeas
Posted on Wednesday, March 26, 2008
BELLA VISTA - The Property Owners Association's Village Pride Committee is offering double knockout roses and endless summer hydrangeas.
The roses are red and pink. Meanwhile, the hydrangeas are available in traditional pink / blue flowers or a new variety called Blushing Bride, which is a white blossom that takes on a sweet pink blush, according to a POA news release.
The roses are disease resistant and need no dead-heading to bloom all summer. The hydrangeas will also bloom all summer and bloom on old and new wood.
The 3-gallon plants are $ 29 each. The plants must be pre-ordered. Registration forms are available at the POA's Membership Services Department, 101 Town Center, Riordan Hall; and at The Weekly Vista.
The order form can be downloaded from the POA's Web site, www. bellavistapoa. com.
The plants must be ordered by May 11. They can be picked up between 10 a.m. and noon May 17 at the Delta Trust and Bank at the intersection of Arkansas highways 340 and 279.
In addition, Nature's Calling, part of the Village Wastewater Co., is selling hostas, crape myrtle and other bushes. These plants can be purchased May 17. They do not have to be pre-ordered.
Proceeds from the Village Pride Committee's plant sale go toward beautification projects, such as golf course flower barrels, the beautification of the intersections at Riordan and Chelsea roads and Arkansas 340 and Chelsea Road, litter pickup, the Deck the Village holiday lights contest and planting of wildflowers.
Nature's Calling will use its proceeds to give a scholarship to a horticultural student at the University of Arkansas.
