Conference on tourism coming to Rogers

ROGERS — The 34 th annual Arkansas Governor’s Conference on Tourism will be Sunday through Tuesday in Rogers.

More than 650 people from the Arkansas tourism industry and Gov. Mike Beebe will be at the Embassy Suites and the John Q. Hammons Center. They will assess what lies ahead in 2008.

Tuesday sessions and speakers include “ Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art: Creating a Sense of Place, ” by Bob Workman, museum executive director; “ Creating a Culinary Tourism Experience, ” by Dr. Robert J. Harrington, University of Arkansas; and “ Harvesting Travel Dollars Through Agritourism. ”

There will be a Governor’s Reception on Tuesday night, followed by the Arkansas Hospitality Association Governor’s Banquet, featuring Beebe. He will join Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism Executive Director Richard W. Davies in presenting the annual Arkansas Tourism Industry Henry Awards.
