ROGERS — Wal-Mart announced Friday that it has entered into an agreement with Bill Schwyhart and Robert Thornton for the purchase of property in the Pinnacle Hills region of Rogers, where the retailer intends to open a Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market.

According to Wal-Mart spokeswoman Laurie Smalling, designs are not yet complete for the proposed location. Wal-Mart, in conjunction with Schwyhart and Thornton, intend to submit plans to the city of Rogers within the next few weeks. The opening date of the store will be determined upon completion of this process.

“ We are excited about the opportunity to serve our customers on the southwest side of Rogers, ” Smalling said. “ We are confident that our Neighborhood Market will add convenience in a pleasant, comfortable environment for our local customers. ”

“ We are proud to have a Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market join us in Pinnacle Hills with an exciting new concept that fits with the overall development, ” Schwyhart said in a press release issued by Wal-Mart on Friday.

According to the release, Wal-Mart is developing a new prototype store that will introduce warmer colors and updated interior features into the Neighborhood Market concept, including a full grocery line, bakery goods, frozen foods, meat and dairy products, and fresh produce.

The store will be filled with features intended to enhance the grocery-shopping experience, including expanded fresh-food offerings, a fullservice pharmacy, a giftand-party-supplies solution, a modernized and shopper-friendly cosmetics shop, toiletries, stationery, paper goods, pet products and a small selection of hardware items, Smalling said.

The Neighborhood Market will be open to customers 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
