BENTONVILLE — Angela Tingblad is about to graduate from Northwest Arkansas Community College with an Associate of Arts degree. She wants to be a forensics accountant, which will require her to get a four-year degree.

A transfer fair held at NWACC on Tuesday gave her the chance to see some of the many options regarding where she could continue her education.

“ It gives you an overview of the colleges. Some of the colleges you don’t know are out there, ” she said.

It was also helpful to have the chance to speak to college representatives face to face.

“ You can ask more questions, ” she said.

The face-to-face value is one aspect of the college fairs that Brent Young also finds useful. Young works in the graduate and professional-studies department at John Brown University in Siloam Springs.

“ It helps us to go to the students, ” he said.

NWACC offers two transfer fairs each year, one each semester, said Lecia Pelphrey, coordinator of transfer services. Tuesday was the first time the fair was held in the college’s new Student Center. The fair is designed to educate students about their various options concerning transferring to four-year colleges after leaving NWACC. Students are also able to learn about the degree programs and scholarship opportunities that are available, she said.
