BENTONVILLE — Motorists are accustomed to seeing the giant pile of rocks with a Jeep parked atop it when they pass the Landers McLarty Ford & Jeep dealership on South Walton Boulevard. By the end of July, there will be an ever larger pile of rubble.

Landers McLarty, which just celebrated the grand opening of its Nissan dealership on Moberly Lane, is now gearing up to expand the Jeep portion of its operation at 2702 S. Walton Blvd. Landers McLarty will tear down the small Jeep sales office building and replace it on the same site with a larger structure that will house sales offices, a large showroom, a service department and more.

The Bentonville Planning Commission will review plans for the expansion project on July 17. And Landers McLarty isn’t looking to waste any time getting the ball rolling.

“ We’re going to put up a 10, 000-square-foot facility to better serve our Jeep customers, and we’re looking to get it up now, ” said Russ Daniels, general manager. “ It’s going to have all the bells and whistles. There will even be an accessory showroom, off-road equipment, any kind of customization work you could possibly want done and then some. ”

Even though the building will be larger than the existing Jeep structure, there will still be room to display up to 250 Jeep vehicles on the lot.

“ We want to get the project going in July, and we’re shooting for completion in February, ” Daniels said. “ This is a very exciting step. ”
