BENTONVILLE — A Rogers woman was formally charged Tuesday with throwing her infant daughter across a room.

Amanda Lea White, 25, is charged with aggravated assault on a family or household member, a class D felony punishable with a prison sentence of up to six years.

Deputy Prosecutor Stephanie McLemore filed the criminal information accusing White of creating a substantial danger of death or serious physical injury to her 36-day-old daughter.

Benton County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested White on March 18.

According to court documents, White threw her crying daughter 6 feet into a chair.

Amanda White’s husband, James White, claims he saw his wife throw the baby and that she had shaken the baby before, according to court documents.

The baby was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rogers and was later returned home with her father.

Amanda White is being held in the Benton County Jail in lieu of $ 20, 000 bond. White’s arraignment is set for 8: 30 a. m. Monday in Circuit Judge Tom Keith’s court.

Circuit Judge John Scott issued a protective order prohibiting Amanda White from having any contact with her daughter.
