BENTON COUNTY — As the mercury on the thermometer slowly creeps up, Benton County students are counting down the days until they are out of school.

All of the county’s public schools will hold classes until at least June 1, with most of them letting out several days after that. Two districts — Bentonville and Rogers — have two calendars, so they have two last days to consider. Both the districts have two elementary schools each that follow a different calendar, called nontraditional in Bentonville and continuous learning in Rogers. Those calendars have the same number of days as the standard calendar, but the days are spread over a longer time period with more breaks throughout the school year.

The last days of school are as follows:

• Bentonville: June 5 for the traditional calendar and June 22 for the nontraditional calendar;

• Decatur: June 1;

• Gentry: June 4;

• Gravette: June 5;

• Pea Ridge: June 1;

• Rogers: June 6 for the regular calendar and June 22 for the continuous-learning calendar; and

• Siloam Springs: June 5.
