ELM SPRINGS

Shelley Ann Reinhardt Downum, 38, of Elm Springs died Monday at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale. She was born Jan. 20, 1970, in Smithville, Mo., to Fred and Sharon Pearson Reinhardt. She was a member of Mercy and Grace Cathedral in Springdale and worked for J. B. Hunt. She was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph William Reinhardt. Survivors include her husband, Chad Wayne Downum; two sons, Edward Gene Luper and Brandon Leevi Luper, both of Elm Springs; her parents of Siloam Springs; and a brother, Fred Reinhardt Jr. of Siloam Springs. Visitation is 6-8 p. m. Thursday at Westfield Chapel in Springdale. Service is 2 p. m. Friday at Mercy and Grace Cathedral with the Rev. Euel Bilderback officiating. David Scott Leffler, 53, of Fayetteville died Sunday in Springdale. Arrangements will be announced by Nelson-Berna Funeral Home and Crematory in Fayetteville.

Luther Odell Black, 86, of Pea Ridge died April 30 in Pea Ridge. He was born Dec. 13, 1921, in Bradford to Lee and Erna Rice Black. He was a minister, plumber and truck driver and a member of the Sugar Creek Congregation of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He was preceded in death by a son, Joe Black.

Survivors include his wife, Loretta Pohl Black; three sons, Luther Ray Black of Rogers, Lee Odell Black of Alamogordo, N. M., and James Luther Black of Combs; three daughters, Maydelle Bayona of Rogers, Margaret Henschell of Penticton, British Columbia, and Beth Ann Fields of Avoca; a stepdaughter, Michellene Marret of Prairie Grove; 16 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. PRAIRIE GROVE

Carl Edward Jones, 58, of Prairie Grove died Monday in Fayetteville.

He was born Oct. 3, 1949, in Springdale to Paul Edgar and Clara Mae Windham Jones.

He was a U. S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War.

Survivors include his wife, Sintham Lek Jones of the home; three sons, John Jones and James Jones, both of Prairie Grove and Joseph Jones of Fayetteville; his father of Springdale; and six grandchildren.

Larry Lee Ruse, 75, of Rogers died Tuesday at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale. Arrangements will be announced by Benton County Memorial Park Funeral Home in Rogers.

Laura Jeanne Harris, 54, of Siloam Springs died Sunday at her home. She was born May 24, 1954, in Topeka, Kan., to Merle Eugene and Verda Marilyn Whitebread Smith.

She worked at Wal-Mart Optical Lab in Fayetteville.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson.

Survivors include two daughters, Lea Marie Murphy and Joannie Lee Harris, both of Siloam Springs; three stepchildren, Angela Marie Field of Siloam Springs, Betty Araya of San Diego and Michael Henderson of St. Louis; two brothers, Ernie and Robert Smith, both of Topeka; three sisters, Devona Perelta of Topeka, Sharla Dorland of Carbondale, Kan., and Michele Morstorf of Meriden, Kan.; and 23 grandchildren.

Service is 2 p. m. Saturday at Twin Springs Park in Siloam Springs with the Rev. Leroy Ruede officiating.

Joyce Chandler, 83, of Whitehouse Community died Monday. She was born Feb. 4, 1925, in Throckmorton, Texas, to Larkin Enoch and Lula Lee Castleman Jones.

She was retired from McDonald Douglas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver “Babe” Hutchens Chandler.

Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Jo Chandler of Fayetteville.

FAYETTEVILLE

Leon Joseph “Joe” Rosenberg of Fayetteville, Ark., died May 4, 2008. He was born Oct. 9, 1918, in Atlanta, Ga., to Harry Manville Rosenberg and Gertrude Hassenbusch Rosenberg. He earned a B. S. degree from Georgia Tech, a M. S. at Columbia University Business School and a Ph. D. at the Graduate Business School, New York University.

He joined the U. S. Army in 1940 and retired from active duty in 1946 with the rank of Captain. Dr. Rosenberg worked for the Federated Stores in Cincinnati and was transferred to Sanger Harris, Dallas, Texas, in 1952 and worked there until 1967. He was chairperson of the research committee, Dallas Chamber of Commerce 1960-1962 and president of Jewish Family service of Dallas 1960-1962. For many years he was a director of the New Orleans Jewish Children’s Regional Services.

He joined the marketing department of the Sam M. Walton College of Business, University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, in 1967 and retired as professor emeritus in 1989. He wrote two books Sanger’s Pioneer Texas Merchants and Dillard’s: The First Fifty Years. He served on the board of the American Cancer Society of Fayetteville from 1979-1986 serving as president 1983-1984.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Phylis Israel Rosenberg and his sister, Marian Eisenberg. He is survived by his wife, Louise Nachman Rosenberg; daughter, Joanne Rosenberg Larson and husband, Mark of Plano, Texas; son, Paul Harvey Rosenberg and wife, Andrea of Englewood Colo.; stepchildren, Nancy Ray, Jack Mayer and Lawrence Mayer; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; and his sister-in-law, Eleanor Bernhardt of Atlanta, Ga. Graveside services will be held at Temple Emanu-El Cemetery, Dallas, Texas, on Wednesday, May 7 at 10 a. m., Rabbi Oren Hayon officiating. A memorial service will be held at 11 a. m. May 8 in the Convocation Room at Butterfield Trail Village, 1923 E. Joyce Blvd. in Fayetteville. Memorials can be made to Temple Shalom Fayetteville, P. O.
