Mansion suited for style event

Women’s Foundation of Arkansas will host its second annual Designing Women event from 5: 30 to 8 p. m. today at the Arkansas Governor’s Mansion.

The theme is “Turn Your Power Suit Into Power Suits You.” Hosted by first lady Ginger Beebe, the event will feature Bravo-TV’s Project Runway contestant Korto Momolu as celebrity stylist for the accessory runway show, a silent auction, Arkansas designers and Arkansas women-owned boutiques and businesses. These include Augusta Fitzgerald, B. Barnett, Barbara Jean Ltd., Jamileh Kamran, Jeante, New Traditions, Proposals, Scarlet and Vesta’s.

A celebrity purse auction will feature bags from notables such as Oprah Winfrey, Mary Steenburgen, Olivia Newton John and U. S. Sen. Blanche Lincoln, D-Ark. Catering will be provided by 1620 Restaurant, Cajun’s Wharf, Capers Restaurant and Catering to You, Copper Grill & Grocery, Lilly’s Dim Sum Then Some, Lulav, RSVP Catering and Sushi Cafe.
