Sprucing up junk for sale
Posted on Tuesday, September 23, 2008
Here are some tips for a successful garage sale: Clothes might do better if they’re clean and displayed on hangers — not folded on a blanket or, horrors, piled in a box.
Touch up wood-furniture scratches with a wax crayon or paste shoe polish, then buff with a clean cloth. White rings can be treated with lemon polish and steel wool. Wash stuffed animals inside a knotted pillowcase. Take tarnish off silver with the proper products. Clean leather purses and wallets with a product that’s made to do that — not with cleaning fluids, shoe creams or mink oil.
