Where I live: I live in the Western Hills subdivision of Little Rock. Cricket, my Siamese cat, and I recently moved back to Arkansas to be closer to my aging family.

Occupation: I am a commercial interior designer. Since 1982, I’ve worked for a company in Dallas, and I just left that position to join Tom Chandler Associates in hopes of developing their commercial interior design division (www. chandler assoc. com ).

My favorite space: My living room.

Why ? It’s very peaceful. I particularly like looking out onto the backyard while sitting in my Eames lounge chair and ottoman. Gazing at the garden helps me ground myself after a very hectic day and it’s one of the main reasons I bought this home. The low-maintenance yard is filled with perennials and something is flowering most of the year, I am told. The family that built this home really did it right.

In this space, I am also surrounded by many of my favorite paintings and art objects that I’ve collected over the years. It’s just a great place to read the paper and unwind.

If I could do one thing to improve this space, I would: Not really do much. I would just take care of a few finishing touches.
