As a host of HGTV’s House Hunters and its spinoff House Hunters International, Suzanne Whang has become the friendly face of TV open houses.
In the two decades the actress and former stand-up comedian has been in show business, Whang, 45, has become a familiar face in millions of homes. In addition to her host duties, Whang has had small roles on the NBC series Las Vegas and ABC’s Brothers & Sisters.
Whang, an Arlington, Va., native, has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Yale University and a master’s degree in cognitive psychology from Brown University.
But at her core, Whang is a real-estate lover just like the rest of us.
“I love Spanish-style houses with hardwood floors and the stucco and the vaulted ceilings and all that,” Whang says of the type of house she eventually bought in Los Angeles. “So I found a Spanish-style house.”
And it wasn’t her first, second or third choice. It was her fourth.
“You know the people we have on the show look at more than three houses,” Whang says of House Hunters, which after eight seasons on the air, just got picked up for five more. “We just show the top three.” HGTV’s House Hunters airs at 9 p. m. weekdays, House Hunters International at 9: 30 p. m. Fridays.
