Contest: Build a better bicycle
Posted on Monday, March 17, 2008
ActiveStyle is looking for smart or funny ideas for making riding your bike easier, safer or simply more fun.
The Spiffy Spiffy Sprockets design contest is open to any reader of any age. To enter, just think of what you’d like to change about biking, draw or paint your idea and send it in.
Maybe you’d like a bike that had wings. Maybe you’d like one with a scoop on the front for pushing dogs out of your way.
Whatever your idea, draw or paint it and send it in.
Winning designs will be published in the ActiveStyle section in April.
Submissions should be on unlined paper or canvas no larger than 8 1 / 2 by 11 inches. Regular typing paper is fine. Images can be color or black-and-white — no pale pencil, please.
Are submissions from school classrooms welcome ? Yes !
Please write your first and last names, address, age and your daytime phone number on the back of each entry. The editor will contact winners by phone. Address: Send your drawing or painting to Spiffy Spiffy Sprockets contest in care of ActiveStyle editor Celia Storey, P. O. Box 2221, Little Rock, Ark. 72203. Deadline: Entries must be received by 3 p. m. March 31. Fine print: Winners will be selected by bike-loving members of the Democrat-Gazette staff who have not entered the contest.
