CLASS 5A SOFTBALL : Williams’ home run starts Nettleton victory

HARRISON — Nettleton defeated Alma 7-2 in the semifinals of the Class 5 A State Softball Tournament on Cavender’s Field Monday, and advanced to the state championship game.

Nettleton (28-2 ) took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second when center fielder Jordan Williams hit a two-run home run over the fence in center field.

Brea Smith began the bottom of the fifth with a single and later scored on an error to give Nettleton a 3-0 lead. Nettleton (28-2 ).. 020 012 2 — 7 10 1 Alma (22-12 )..... 000 002 0 — 2 5 3 S. Jasmyne Smith doubled and scored on a single by Ellen Crunby in the second and Ashley Boyles hit a home run over the left field fence in the sixth inning to account for the scoring.
