AF2 : Twisters get in hole early, can’t escape

OKLAHOMA CITY — Disaster struck early and was more than the Arkansas Twisters could overcome.
Two touchdowns before Arkansas’ offense took the field gave the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz control and led to their 57-42 victory over Arkansas at Ford Center on Saturday night.
Oklahoma City’s DonTe Bright returned the game-opening kickoff 57 yards to give the Yard Dawgz a 7-0 lead.
Ben Scott’s kickoff then bounced off the end zone net’s lower bar to Oklahoma City’s Robert Harmon at the Arkansas 13.
After two plays and a penalty, Evan Gray’s 19-yard touchdown pass to Al Hunt gave Oklahoma City a 14-0 lead.
Arkansas’ starting quarterback, Kyle Rowley, fumbled to end Arkansas’ next possession.
Four plays later, Gray threw a 9-yard touchdown pass to Hunt and Oklahoma City led 21-0 with 1: 49 left in the first quarter.
Rowley’s 1-yard touchdown run put Arkansas within 21-7 with 6: 42 left in the second quarter.
Oklahoma City scored on its next possession. A 25-yard touchdown pass from Gray to Hunt made it 27-7 with 5: 25 left in the second quarter.
Rowley was intercepted to end Arkansas’ next possession, and a 5-yard touchdown pass from Gray to Hunt gave Oklahoma City a 33-7 lead.
Arkansas’s second touchdown of the game, a 16-yard pass from Rowley to Byron Rogers, came with eight seconds left in the first half to cut Oklahoma City’s lead to 33-14.
Collin Drafts replaced Rowley to start the second half, completing four consecutive passes to put Arkansas at Oklahoma City’s 13, but missed his next three to turn the ball over on downs.
Oklahoma City responded with a 40-yard touchdown run by Danny Howard to take a 39-14 lead.
Arkansas scored on its next possession.
Draft’s 5-yard touchdown pass to Rogers put Arkansas within 39-21 with 4: 09 left in the third quarter.
Rowley completed 11 of 19 passes from 118 yards and 1 touchdown. Drafts completed 14 of 26 for 143 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Hunt scored five touchdowns for Oklahoma City, three on catches and two on kick returns.
