In addition to training at Oaklawn, Moquett said Silver Lord is doing more labor at a local farm. “The gate crew, everybody working with this horse, is doing a great job,” Moquett said. “They want to see him succeed.” Moquett said Silver Lord remains a candidate for the $ 500, 000 Grade II Oaklawn Handicap on April 5 and the Seek Gold sidelined for good

HOT SPRINGS — It appears the career of Grade I winner Seek Gold is over because of chronic physical problems, trainer Ron Moquett of Fort Smith said.

“He’s on R and R,” Moquett said. “There’s a good shot he’ll never race again.”

Moquett said Seek Gold, an 8-year-old Touch Gold gelding owned by Fort Smithbased Bowman-Couch Racing, continues to battle tendon and foot problems.

Seek Gold has only started twice since providing Moquett and Bowman Couch with their biggest victory in the $ 750, 000 Grade I Stephen Foster Handicap on June 17, 2006, at Churchill Downs.

In his last start, Seek Gold ran ninth in an April 27 allowance race at Keeneland.

Ted Bowman and Kristi $ 100, 000 Fifth Season Stakes on April 11 despite the setback in the New Orleans Handicap.

“We would like to run him here,” Moquett said.

Silver Lord scored his biggest career victory in the $ 100, 000 Louisiana Handicap on Jan. 12 at Fair Grounds.
